TEACHERS EUROPEAN ACT 2010
GULU MONTEIRO
has lead a theater company in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, "Companhia do Gesto", for 17 years. In 2001 he moved to Los Angeles where he started a new company the Ipanema Theater Troupe. Since 2006 Gulu is an acting Professor at UCLA (University of California of Los Angeles). He has also worked as a theater teacher at CalArt University and Larry Moss Studio in Los Angeles.
At the beginning of 2001, Gulu adapted and directed the French farce A Flea in Her Ear at Stages Theater Center in Hollywood. The play was a "Pick of the Week" in LA Weekly and Critic's Choice in Backstage West. The Daily News included the play in one of the 10 Best Plays of the Year. Gulu received a 2002 Maddy Award for Best Director and a 2001 Theater LA Ovation Award for Best Adaptation.
In January-February, 2004, he adapted and directed The Good Soul of Szechwan by Bertolt Brecht, which ran at the Electric Lodge in Venice. The production was a Los Angeles Times Critics Choice. In May 2007, gulu directed and adapted the Greek tragedy The Bacchae by Euripides for The Getty Villa Theater. Gulus last theater production was his adaptation of Moliers The Doctor Despite himself at the Electric Lodge in Venice and he received a 2010 LA Weekly Award nomination for best Director.
Gulu directed three short films: Joyeux Anniversaire in Paris (2004), A Festa in Rio (2005), Mariucha in Rio (2005), Uma ou Duas Coisas Sobre o Amor (2006) in Rio and a 50 minutes documentary: A Flea in Hollywood in Los Angeles (2002). He has various projects as a theater and film director.
TRISH BAILLIE
She works as a freelance teacher of voice and speech and of the Alexander Technique. She trained in voice studies at The Central School of Speech and Drama where she came to value the relevance of the Alexander Technique to voice work and consequently trained as a teacher. Through the Alexander Technique in developing an awareness of how undue tensions interfere with the bodys alignment, breath support, breathing, vocal energy and presence, she works to dissolve those tensions. She was Head of Voice at the Manchester School of Theatre for 11 years; has taught Voice and Text in London, Oxford, and Manchester and internationally in Montreal, Paris, Rome, and in San Francisco and teaches on the Alexander Teachers Training course in Manchester. Her work ranges from teaching in leading drama schools to giving workshops in Voice and the Alexander Technique and to working as a voice coach privately and in professional theatre.
VESNA PURIC
Vesna is a highly acclaimed and much experienced Performer, Feldenkrais Practitioner, Movement Teacher and Coach. She works extensively all over Europe and is passionate about movement and body awareness. Vesnas unique approach encourages performers to become the embodiment of their craft: allowing movement to inform their performance through the body and beyond. Whether working with Classiccontemporary script; improvisation, clown,in any media, style,genre, Vesna believes that how you use your physical self is the surely the key to your personal and professional success.
REBECCA LENKIEWICZ
One of the most successful voices in the younger generation of British playwrights, Rebecca's work includes THE NIGHT SEASON and most recently HER NAKED SKIN, both at the National Theatre, as well as SHOREDITCH MADONNA at Soho Theatre and a new adaptation of Ibsen's AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE at Arcola Theatre.

Patrick has been a TV director helming long-running series such as EASTENDERS and is the author of several best-selling books on acting technique as well as directing advanced workshops in Shakespeare for the RSC and highly sought-after workshops in acting for camera.

Matthew is an award-winning director of new plays and classic repertoire. He was previously Artistic Director of the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester and Associate Director of Hampstead Theatre. He is currently Artistic Director of the Actors Centre, the UK's leading professional training facility for actors, and he is about to direct DUET FOR ONE starring Juliet Stevenson for the Almeida Theatre.
JENS ROTH
He is an experienced teacher and Acting Coach from Berlin. He's gotten actors ready for cinema productions such as "Pope Joan" and "Anonyma" and coached on set for a number of TV and film productions . He has developed his own unique technique called SourceTuning, a sharp intuitive physical tool designed to create the universe of a character. For many actors it became a reliable source of inspiration and authentic acting. An unconditional trust in the actors' body as an endless source of creativity is the basis of his work.
PAUL THOMSON
Actually associate professor of Film and Television at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. He was also from 1993-97, Head of Film and Television at the Australian Film, Television, and Radio School. He was a featured actor in over 30 television productions in England. And as a writer, his work has been performed by the National Youth Theatre, The Half Moon Theatre, The Royal Shakespeare Company, and the National Theatre.

The doyenne of British voice specialists, Cicely is an Associate Artist of the RSC and has a distinguished career in all aspects of vocal work and engagement with Shakespearean text.
MATTHEW HURT
Since leaving the Soho Theatre Young Writers group, Matthews work includes Singing Dancing Acting, which has been performed in London, Paris and Athens. His play Mortal Ladies Possessed has been seen across the UK as well as in Milan and New York. The award-winning musical, Have A Nice Life, for which Matthew wrote the book, premiered at the New York Musical Theatre Festival and was followed by productions in Philadelphia and Edinburgh. Matthew has previously been commissioned by Shakespeares Globe to write the prologue for their International Artists Fellowships showing. His play Believe started its run at the Traverse, Edinburgh, before being performed in London (No. 1 in The Times list of shows to see) and Adelaide, Australia. It has also been featured on BBC Radio 4s Womens Hour and translated into French, German and Swedish for future productions. His radio play, Phumzile, was recently broadcast on BBC Radio 4.

TRISH BAILLIE
Head of Voice at the School of Theatre at Manchester Metropolitan University, Trish trained in voice studies at The Central School of Speech and Drama and has since trained as a teacher of the Alexander Technique. Trish has taught classes and workshops for voice in drama schools in London, Oxford and in Italy and has worked professionally as a voice coach on productions in London and in Oxford.

MURIEL MAYETTE
Artistic Director of the Comédie Française, is one of the most distinguished artists in contemporary French theatre. Author, director and actor, she also has a long-standing commitment to the further training of actors. She has created and directed several plays. She has adapted works of Molière, Feydeau, Corneille Alain Renais and Eugène Labiche. At the same time she has acted at the Comédie Française as well as many other plays elsewhere. She has also acted in film and teaches at the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts.
SANDRINE RAY
French director. She start by directing short films and documentaries. She also worked as assistant director on films such as LA FRACTURE DU MYOCARDE and 99F , with Jacques Fansten, Arnaud Desplechin, François Velle, PW. Glenn, Jan Kounen, Laurent Boutnik After taht she wrote and directed her first feature film: VIVANTE, with Vahina Giocante, ed for the Sundance Festival (USA) 2002. She then wrote a second feature film entitled UN VRAIE CONTE DE FEE with Mylène Demongeol, now in the development stage, and worked after on many other films. She is now in charge of film programming, the directors, the actors and the elaboration of cinema partnerships (Canal +; UGC, Cinéma Bastille....)
CATHERINE SALVIAT
French actress, She joined the Comédie-Française in 1969 . She has been a member since 1977 and a honorary member since the first of January 2006. She has played a great number of roles from the classical theatre repertory. She has also acted in many films for television and for the cinema; she is known for her great sensitivity. In 1988 she won a Molière for the best actress in a second role for LES DIALOGUES DES CARMELITES by Georges Bernanos and in 1984, the Grégory Chmara for LES SEDUCTEURS by Edouard Molinaro. She has been decorated Chevalier de l'Ordre national du Mérite and Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

actress and theatre director, she is a former member of the Comédie Française, acting in all of Molière's plays as well as in numerous films for television - LES ROIS MAUDITS, LEON BLUM, MEDECINS DE NUITS. At the Théatre de Paris she appeared in successful contemporary plays such as LA FOLLE DE CHAILLOT, Shaffe's EQUUS, L'OPERA DE QUATRE SOUS, Gombrovicz's OPERETTE. Specialized in voice training she will bring her experience to the workshops on the Alexandre technique with Trish Baillie.

HENRY GOODMAN
Henry won an Olivier Award for his portrayal of Shylock at the National Theatre and has played leading roles in every genre from farce to new plays, including most recently Tevye in the West End revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. He is currently shooting the new Ang Lee movie.
JANET SUZMAN
An Associate Artist of the RSC, Janet has played most of the great Shakespearean lead roles for the company, including famous productions as Cleopatra and Lady Macbeth. She also has a distinguished career as a director.
GEMMA JONES
Gemma is one of the best-known stage, film and TV stars in the British profession. Her cinema credits include the HARRY POTTER and the BRIDGET JONES films and she is about to star in the Donmar Theatre's high profile revival of THE COCKTAIL PARTY.
